Dear Parents, Friends and Students of Our Lady of Lourdes
Stations of the Cross: Holy Week is upon us as we prepare ourselves for the Risen Lord at Easter this coming Sunday. Students have had the opportunity to walk with Jesus on our Stations of the Cross pilgrimage throughout Week 10. Classes have beautifully portrayed each station with their own artwork, and these have been displayed throughout the school. It was wonderful to see Fr Stan, parishioners and parents join us for the pilgrimage on Tuesday morning. Thank you to Mr Gray for organising, our Year 6 students for leading the reflection and to the students for bringing these important moments of our faith to life for us.
Margy Reeler LSL: Margy Reeler, who takes care of all things finance at our school, is taking some well-deserved long service leave for the duration of Term 2. We welcome Mrs Margaret Stowowy to OLOL who will fill the Finance Officer position in Margy’s absence. Mrs Stowowy is currently the Finance Officer at Loreto Primary School in Nedlands and brings a wealth of experience. Mrs Stowowy will be at OLOL on Thursday and Fridays.
Emergency Procedures & Drills: It is an audit requirement for all schools to have emergency procedures in place for situations involving an evacuation or lockdown and to practise these during the school year. At OLOL, we have recently revised our emergency procedures since the capital building works and are ready to trial these to evaluate the changes. Therefore, please don’t be alarmed if your child comes home telling you that we had to evacuate or hide ‘out of sight’ in our classroom. These are only routine drills. They can be an opportune time to discuss at home why it is important to regularly practise these essential safety procedures.
Beginning of Term 2: A reminder to all families that Term 2 will commence for all students on Wednesday 26 April. Staff will be undertaking professional learning on Monday 24 April with ANZAC Day falling on the following day. We will be commemorating ANZAC Day with a service on Wednesday 26 April at 10am. All families are invited to attend.
A reminder also that swimming lessons commence on the first day back at school. Please check your child’s Seesaw for communication regarding swimming lessons.
Happy Easter & Holiday Period: If I don’t see you before the end of the week, I would like to wish every member of the OLOL family a blessed Easter and happy, safe holiday period.
May Christ’s glory and the promise of this joyous time of year,
bring peace and happiness to you and those you hold most dear.
Happy Easter!

Volunteers Needed
Mrs Vivante is looking for parent volunteers to assist with a daily Reading program for the MacqLit students starting in Term 2. Please contact Mrs Vivante at giuseppina.vivante@cewa.edu.au or phone the school office on 9413 5300 if you are interested in finding out more about how you can help our Year 3-6 students.
Free Dress Day
Tomorrow, Thursday 6th April is a Free Dress Day. We will be raising money for Project Compassion, so please have your child/children bring in a gold coin donation.
Soft Cuddly Toys Needed!
We have also had a request from Wheelchairs for Kids. For the first time in 25 years they have run out of soft, cuddly toys. Every Wheelchair that is made is sent with a soft toy. Ideally the toys would be less than 30cm in height and in good condition. If you are able to donate any of your preloved toys, please bring them in tomorrow. We would appreciate your help!
Thank you.
Stations of the Cross
We remember Jesus’ sacrifice and give thanks for what he brought to our world.
Wishing you a blessed Easter and a happy and safe holiday!

Absentee Notes
Parents, please make sure your Absentee Notes are up to date by Thursday.
Thank you.
Ring Pulls
We are still collecting the ring pulls from soft drink cans. These are donated to Brother Ollie, who uses them to assist in making wheelchairs for children around the world affected by disease and landmines.
Please bring them to your class teacher.
Thank you
St Vincent de Paul Clothing Bin
We have a St Vincent de Paul clothing bin which is located near the Flinders St gate on the oval side of the school. You are able to donate all your unwanted good quality clothing, manchester, books, kitchenware (no glass items) and childrens’ toys that you no longer needed. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the front office.
Battery Recycling
Recycling batteries is good for the environment. It keeps them out of landfill, where heavy metals may leak into the ground when the battery casing corrodes, causing soil and water pollution. If batteries are incinerated with household waste, the heavy metals in them may cause air pollution.
Remember that you can recycle your household batteries at school. Please deposit batteries in the specially provided container in the front office.
We can all play our part to reduce landfill and help save the planet.
