Dear Parents, Friends and Students of Our Lady of Lourdes
QCESR: As I mentioned in last fortnight’s newsletter, our school recently went through The Quality Catholic Education School Review (QCESR). The process focuses on our school improvement journey where a panel visits our community to meet with me, the Leadership Team, a selection of staff and students, Parish Priest and members of the School Advisory Council and P&F. We have not received our formal report yet, however, we were incredibly proud of the feedback we were given at the conclusion of the three days. The statement used by the panel was, “This school is really a hidden gem.” I replied, “I couldn’t agree more.” Thank you to everyone that makes up this very special school community.
Annual Community Meeting: The OLOL Annual Community Meeting (ACM) will be held on Wednesday 22 November at the new time of 3:30pm in the Hall. The change in time hopefully will make it easier for more families to attend, being straight after school and staff will be on hand to supervise children while the meeting is on.
At this meeting, reports will be submitted by the School Advisory Council (SAC), Parents & Friends Association (P&F) as well as my Principal Report, celebrating our wonderful achievements during the school year. The OLOL staffing for 2024 and school fee structure will also be presented at this meeting.
We look forward to welcoming as many parents as possible to the meeting next Wednesday.
Staffing News: I am very pleased to announce that Miss Emma Frost was successful in gaining the Year 2 teaching position for Term One next year. Miss Frost will be replacing Mrs Magri while she is on long service leave. We look forward to welcoming Miss Frost to our school community.
Disco: A huge thank you to the P&F for organising such a fabulous disco last Friday evening. The team had been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the students had a terrific evening filled with fun, laughter and of course DANCING! Thank you to the entire community for showing your support by coming along and being part of the celebration with the children as we move closer to the end of another school year.
Carols & Awards: I can’t believe that it is that time of year, however, please make sure you have marked down Friday 1 December for the OLOL End of Year Concert & Awards Night. The event will commence at 5:30pm with the presentation of class awards, followed by Kindy’s display of the Nativity and finally individual Edu Dance class performances. Like last year, we encourage families to bring along a picnic as there will not be food or drinks for sale at the event. Please read further communication regarding the event via your child’s Seesaw.
MJR – Spirit of Jesus ‘Shout Outs’: Here are a few ‘SOJ Shouts Outs’ from around the community this past fortnight:
- Yolan (canteen volunteer) ensuring that Kindy had all their lunch orders sorted before heading on their excursion
- Mrs Bayer providing some delicious bites for the staff and QCESR Panel
- Mrs Goode and Mrs Valli jumping into Pre Primary at short notice when we were down a teacher
- Parents of a child in Kindy who wrote a beautiful thank you letter to Mrs Quesnel on the positive impact she has had on their child over the last two years
- To everyone that makes up our very special school community, in what the QCESR Panel described as a ‘real hidden gem’
God Bless and stay classy OLOL

The Munch Box
Parents, please note that OLOL is an ALLERGY AWARE SCHOOL. This means no nuts, peanut butter, nutella or bars/cakes containing nuts.
Please click on the following link for the revised Term 2 Menu:
Ring Pulls
We are still collecting the ring pulls from soft drink cans. These are donated to Brother Ollie, who uses them to assist in making wheelchairs for children around the world affected by disease and landmines.
Please bring them to your class teacher.
Thank you
St Vincent de Paul Clothing Bin
We have a St Vincent de Paul clothing bin which is located near the Flinders St gate on the oval side of the school. You are able to donate all your unwanted good quality clothing, manchester, books, kitchenware (no glass items) and childrens’ toys that you no longer needed. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the front office.
Battery Recycling
Recycling batteries is good for the environment. It keeps them out of landfill, where heavy metals may leak into the ground when the battery casing corrodes, causing soil and water pollution. If batteries are incinerated with household waste, the heavy metals in them may cause air pollution.
Remember that you can recycle your household batteries at school. Please deposit batteries in the specially provided container in the front office.
We can all play our part to reduce landfill and help save the planet.
